“ HARRAH’S LUCKY BREAK ”
Official Rules
No purchase is necessary to enter or win. You must be at least 21 years or older and a U.S. citizen to participate. Void where prohibited by law. Limit: one entry per person. One prize package will be awarded each week for 21 weeks. A contestant can only win one weekly prize package. All 21 weekly winners are then eligible to compete for the grand prize. Participants must be amateur singers, and cannot be members of AFTRA or have been paid now or in the past for singing and must sign a release before they are eligible to sing in this contest . All weekly winners and some competitors will appear in the Saturday night TV show “Harrah’s Lucky Break” on KMBC TV at 11:00 p.m.
HOW TO ENTER:
To enter, follow all instructions on the official entry form/waiver available on the websites of the Cumulus Radio stations in Kansas City including www.949kcmo.com, observing all posted deadlines and providing your name, address, city, state, zip code, age, daytime telephone number and other information requested. Additionally, potential contestants may register on-site at the Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill, Harrah’s Casino Kansas City Casino and Hotel, between 6 and 8 pm.
No responsibility is assumed by KMBC TV , Hearst TV , Harrah’s Casino and Hotel, Cumulus Broadcasting, Mike Ousley Productions, Inc (hereafter collectively "Contest Providers") for lost, late, ineligible, misdirected, or illegible entries or for any computer, online, telephone or technical malfunctions that may occur.
DEADLINES: Applicants may be contacted by the show’s producers to audition before they are videotaped for television, or they may be given an appointment for a Tuesday taping date . Due to the volume of applicants, not all applicants will be able to audition. Not all applicants or contestants will be shown on television. Editing for the TV show will not determine who wins the contest.
All 21 weekly winners will be contacted by the show’s producers about subsequent semi-final competitive rounds, which will take place during weeks 22,23 and 24. The winners of the semi-final rounds will qualify for the final, grand prize round, which will take place during week 25.
WINNER SELECTION:
Harrah’s Lucky Break show producers will choose the weekly singers/contestants who will be offered the opportunity to audition. No applicant is guaranteed the opportunity to audition; applicants chosen to audition are completely at the producers’ sole and exclusive discretion. All producer decisions are final.
CRITERIA:
The choice of singers to be chosen as contestants in the taping of “Harrah’s Lucky Break” is completely at the sole discretion of the producers. Judges may draw from some or all of the following criteria:
- Appearance
- Talent
- Singing skill
- Stage presence
- Vocal Clarity
- Potential to entertain an audience
- Crowd appeal
- The overall impression of the applicant
NOTE: The show’s producers will schedule auditions with some applicants prior to those taping dates. On the night of each show taping, the show’s producers will decide between 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on each of the scheduled taping nights which contestants performances/auditions will be taped for the show that night. Future taping dates will be determined at a later time.
PRIZES:
Weekly Winners: 21 total weekly winners will each receive a fun Kansas city themed prize from Harrah's Casino Kansas City & Cumulus Broadcasting. Approximate value of each weekly prize package: $100.00.
Grand Prize Winner: One grand prize winner will receive a audition with several major record label executives (value: priceless) and a trip for two people to Las Vegas, Nv including two night of hotel and roundtrip airline tickets from Kansas City to Las Vegas. (Value: approximately $440.00, contingent on room and airfare rates at the time of booking). The trip will take place approximately the second or third weekend in January 2009.
All prizes are awarded “as is.” Prizes are nontransferable and cannot be exchanged or redeemed for cash.
All prizes must be claimed in person at Cumulus Broadcasting Kansas City 5800 Foxridge Blvd. Suite 600 Mission KS,66202 during regular business hours and within ten (10) business days of winning, excluding holidays or at the taping of the TV show at Harrah’s Casino. After such time, ownership of said prize reverts back to Cumulus to be disposed of at its discretion. The winner then loses all claims and rights to said prize.
Proper identification must be presented by any winner to claim prize.
ELIGIBILITY:
The Contest is open to United States citizens who are 21 years or older at the time of entry. Void where prohibited by law. Employees of Contest Providers, including, but not limited to KMBC TV ,Hearst TV, Mike Ousley Productions, Inc , Harrah’s Casino and Hotel, Cumulus Broadcasting and their respective subsidiaries, parents, partners, other contest sponsors, advertising and promotional agencies and the immediate family members of each, are not eligible to win.
USE OF CONTEST INFORMATION:
Notwithstanding any contrary provision in any of Contest Providers' respective privacy policies, Contestants grant to Contest Providers, and Contest Providers reserve, the right to use any and all information related to the Contest, including information provided by Contestants in connection with the Contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law. Contestants will be required to sign a release, which grants to Contest Providers the right to use and publish their proper name and state of residence online or in any other media in connection with the Contest. By accepting a prize, winner(s) may be required to sign a release that grants permission to Contest Providers to use his or her name, photograph, likeness, voice, prize information and/or biographical information for publicity and promotional purposes without future compensation unless prohibited by law. By entering, participants release and hold harmless Contest Providers, their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damages of any kind arising from or in connection with the Contest or any prize won. Restrictions, conditions and limitations apply.
CONDUCT:
By entering the Contest, you agree to be bound by these Official Rules. The Official Rules will be available throughout the Contest. Contestants further agree to be bound by the decisions of the Contest Providers, which shall be final and binding in all respects. Contest Providers reserve the right at their sole discretion to disqualify any individual they find to be tampering with the entry process or to be acting in violation of the Official Rules.
You agree that in your participation in the Contest the registration of usernames or group names - you will not use obscene, libelous or slanderous language, or language that infringes upon a third party's trademark, trade name or other intellectual property right or right of privacy. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless KMBC TV ,Hearst TV, Mike Ousley Productions, Inc , Harrah’s Casino and Hotel & Cumulus Broadcasting, and their respective subsidiaries, parents, partners, or other contest sponsors, officers, consultants, agents, and employees against and from all claims, damages liabilities, costs and expenses asserted by third parties alleging that the Contest includes obscenity, libel, slander, or infringes upon the third party's intellectual property or privacy rights, as a direct result of your actions in the use connection with the Contest. If the producers think you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs you can be removed from the contest with no recourse whatsoever . The Producer decision is final. You further agree to not knowingly damage or cause interruption of the Contest or to prevent others' participation in the Contest.
LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY:
Winners assume liability for losses or injuries caused or claimed to be caused by participating in the Contest, or by the acceptance, possession, use of, or failure to receive any prize. Contest Providers are not responsible: (i) any lost, late, illegible, incomplete, postage-due, misdirected or mutilated mail; or (ii) for any incorrect or inaccurate information, in the Contest or by any technical or human error that may occur in the processing of submissions in the Contest. Contest Providers assume no responsibility for an error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction of authorized access to, or alteration of, entries. Contest Providers are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of e-mail or players on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site or combination thereof, including injury or damage to participants or to any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading materials in the Contest. If, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Contest Providers that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, Contest Providers reserve the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest.
TAXES:
All State, Local, Federal and or other taxes, duties, tariffs, title fees, licensing fees, or other fees for prizes awarded become the sole responsibility of the winner. All those who win a prize or prizes valued $600 or more will be issued an IRS Form 1099 to report their winnings.
RULES / WINNERS LIST:
Official Rules and the name of the winners may be obtained by sending a self-addressed, stamped #10 envelope to: Harrah’s Lucky Break P.O. Box 36333 Birmingham, Al 35236. Indicate Harrah’s Lucky Break “Rules Request" or Harrah’s Lucky Break “Winners List" on the outside of the envelope as applicable. Limit: one (1) request per envelope. The request must include the name of the contest and the date and city and reason for the request. Winners List will be available five (5) days after the winners are confirmed.
